Fira Town & Caldera Views
The island's capital perched on the rim of the volcanic caldera β dazzling white-washed buildings, blue-domed churches, and some of the most dramatic sea views in the world. The Museum of Prehistoric Thera nearby is exceptional.
Oia Village
The most photographed village in the Aegean β cascading white-washed buildings, blue-domed churches, and the most celebrated sunset in the world viewed from the Kastro castle ruins at the northern tip of the village.
Akrotiri Archaeological Site
Santorini's answer to Pompeii β a remarkably preserved Bronze Age Minoan city buried by volcanic ash around 1600 BC. The entire site is covered by a protective roof and far less crowded than anything in Fira or Oia.
Ancient Thera Ruins
A clifftop Hellenistic and Roman city perched on the ridge of Mesa Vouno with stunning views over both sides of the island. Almost nobody visits β solitude and history in equal measure.
Metaxy Mas
The best food on Santorini at a fraction of caldera-view restaurant prices β a traditional Greek taverna run by the same family for decades in the inland village of Exo Gonia. Genuinely exceptional cooking.
Ammoudi Fish Taverna
A cluster of fish tavernas perched on the rocky waterfront of Ammoudi Bay below Oia β the freshest octopus grilled over charcoal and exceptional grilled fish. Reached by 300 steps down from Oia village.
Lucky's Souvlakis
The best budget meal on the island β huge fresh pitas stuffed with proper gyros for under β¬4. Beloved by locals and savvy travellers who skip the overpriced tourist restaurants on the caldera edge.
Roka Restaurant
Excellent mezze and fresh fish right in Fira without the tourist-trap caldera-view premium β a reliable local favourite for saganaki, stuffed vine leaves, and grilled seafood at honest prices.
Franco's Bar
The classic Fira sunset bar, famous since 1980 and still the best caldera cocktail experience in town β perched on the rim with uninterrupted views of the volcano and the darkening Aegean.
Enigma Club
Fira's best late-night club with an outdoor caldera terrace β a proper DJ-driven night out with spectacular views. Does not get going until well after midnight.
Lolita CafΓ©
A genuine local hangout in Fira for strong Greek coffee and fresh pastries β the opposite of a tourist spot. The freddo espresso (iced cold) is the quintessential Santorini morning drink.
Pelican Bar
The best cafΓ© terrace in Oia, with sweeping caldera views and a relaxed atmosphere before the tour-group rush arrives. Homemade spoon sweets and loukoumades (honey donuts) are the house specialities.
Perissa Black Sand Beach
Santorini's most dramatic beach β a long crescent of jet-black volcanic sand backed by the towering cliff of Mesa Vouno. Good beach bars, watersports, and volcanic rock formations in the water.
Red Beach (Kokkini Paralia)
One of Europe's most visually stunning beaches β towering red and ochre volcanic cliffs above dark red sand. Short walk from the road, and easily combined with the Akrotiri archaeological site nearby.
Kamari Beach
The most accessible organised black sand beach on the island β longer and more relaxed than Perissa, with excellent beach bars, restaurants, and an open-air cinema that runs in summer.
Caldera Sailing Boat Tour
A full-day catamaran tour of the caldera β sailing to the active volcano, swimming in the hot springs, stopping at Red Beach, and finishing with a BBQ on board at sunset. The best all-round Santorini experience.
Fira to Oia Hike
One of Europe's great walks β a 10 km trail along the caldera rim from Fira to Oia with breathtaking views of the volcano, the sea, and the island's villages. End in Oia for the famous sunset.
Santo Wines Winery Tour & Tasting
A tasting tour at Santorini's most celebrated winery β a spectacular terrace overlooking the caldera paired with the island's indigenous Assyrtiko grape wines. The sunset tasting is an unforgettable experience.
ATV Island Quad Tour
Rent a quad bike (ATV) in Fira and explore the island on your own terms β driving to Oia, the hilltop village of Pyrgos, and through the island's scenic vineyards. The most fun and flexible way to see Santorini.
